About the event

Who are we at our core? What separates us from other species?

Intelligence? Certainly.

Humanity? That is the question.

How can civilization can still be vulnerable to the horrors that exist today? After all, most of us

only want good: peace, stability, freedom.

The answer is that when it comes to dissent, disruption, power, obliteration - even one person

can create massive destruction.

This brings me to the conclusion that some of us lead with more animal instincts than others.

Some take the path of enlightenment, which is a further break in evolution. I believe and hope

that this human form will continue to evolve.

However, it seems that when evolved intelligence and basic predator instincts combine, that is

a dangerous combination. That’s when we end up with dictators, war, genocide. To me it

seems the human population is stuck somewhere in between evolved beings and animals, with

extreme variants on both sides.

As a whole, we often apply the term evil to such extreme variants. We set this term aside for

only the most power hungry, apathetic, and predatory.

But surely there is quite a spectrum between good and evil. Good, being an active protagonist,

evil being its counterpart, and most of civilization falling somewhere in between.

In my own investigation, it seems that the most enlightened are not the ones in power, because

they don’t wish to be.

We live in a world where the boldest, most emblazoned, take over, even in seemingly

democratic systems. We are predators, and we are at the top of the food chain. Those who

follow their predator instincts gain power.

Those who wish for peace are passive, and will never crave power.

As evolving humans we struggle to embrace that which we want to embody, and that which we

were designed to be.

This is the human dilemma, of Basic Instinct.
